Rational

My character is for the game dark souls it is a dark and eerie game full of grotesque creature all truing to kill the player, on this theme i decided that i would create cerberus as he is the guardian of hell, and would make a great boss battle, before each boss there is a small cinematic that introduces the character and puts them on collision path with the player, it is this small video that i created my high detailed character for.

obviously being based on cerberus he has the three heads, i wanted each head to seem like a character in in its own right and have the central head be slightly more dominant than the others to show he has control of this character, the left head is like an angry troll or giant full of rage, the right head is a scheming beast with a bit of a grin and the central head has no eyes relying on the others to see but is the most dominating of the three with no lips and massive horns it creates a central focus for the viewer

the body started off human and got more deformed as the process went on as i wanted it to see seem fragile but intimidating, the idea of being chased by this creature as you would a dog led to the long lean legs and arms, and the straps holding the arms up through the flesh shows the fragility of the creature and that someone greater(the next boss) must care for it in some way as it would be impossible for the creature to do this to himself

as a character it is aggressive and fast to act the three heads need to work in perfect harmony but struggle to achieve this, this fact coupled with the creatures frail body lets the player know possible ways to beat it

first ideas

this was my first idea, it took quite a while but was told by matt that i should push it further as it had no back ground design i just started it straight in zbrush with no for though
next i pushed if into a dragon to see how far i could take that
then made a centipede mad from human torsos, after all this i decided i was graspping at straws and needed a new idea

Cerberus mythology

Cerberus Concept

my idea is to create what i think cerberus would look like in the world of dark souls, i like the idea of maintaining 3 heads but would like to put a human element to them, on top of this instead of making it look like a dog i would like to give it a bipedal human esq but grotesque body, very skinny and scary looking

Cerberus /ˈsɜrbərəs/,[1] or Kerberos, (Greek form: Κέρβερος, [ˈkerberos])[2] in Greek and Roman mythology, is amulti-headed (usually three-headed) dog, or "hellhound[1][3][4] with a serpent's tail, a mane of snakes, and a lion's claws.[5] He guards the entrance of the underworld to prevent the dead from escaping and the living from entering. Cerberus is featured in many works of ancient Greek and Roman literature and in works of both ancient and modern art and architecture, although the depiction of Cerberus differs across various renditions. The most notable difference is the number of his heads: Most sources describe or depict three heads; others show Cerberus with two or even just one; a smaller number of sources show a variable number, sometimes as many as 50 or even 100.

Dark souls(my chosen world)

Dark Souls focuses on dungeon exploring and the tension and fear that arise when players encounter enemies in this setting. The game is a spiritual successor to Demon's Souls, which in turn is considered a spiritual successor to the King's Field games. The game takes place in an open world environment and uses a third-person perspective. The player battles using various weapons and strategies to survive in a dark fantasy world.
